Our Services and Fees

Standard Consultation $550 USD

The Standard Gap Year Consultation is ideal for students who can easily articulate their motivations and goals for their gap year and want an expert's assistance researching opportunities for them. The Standard Consultation begins with a no-obligation introductory conversation during which we go over your goals for your gap year and Free to Roam Adventures' role helping you achieve them. Once you officially become a client we begin researching opportunities for you.

Services included with the Standard Consultation:

  • Initial assessment to determine goals for your gap year and an overview of the planning process
  • A retainer for 3 hours of phone conversation or in-person meetings for use by students and parents to structure plans and ask questions, plus unlimited emailing
  • A customized portfolio with 6-8 program and activity recommendations based on your personal preferences and goals
  • Suggestions for budgeting, packing, and other logistical arrangements 
  • Follow-up consultation to assist with re-entry and debrief experiences 

Our contracted services terminate once your gap year begins, though we love to keep in touch and hear about your experience!


Comprehensive Consultation $1,550

The Comprehensive Consultation is ideal for students and parents seeking more guidance in articulating goals and desired structure of their gap year. We begin with a no-obligation introductory conversation where we discuss the basics of the gap year, any ideas you have for how you would like to spend it, and Free to Roam Adventures' role in helping make it happen. Once you officially become a client, we begin working with you to help you more clearly articulate your goals for your gap year. When your gap year intentions are clear, we begin researching opportunities that fit your desired goals and experiences.

Services included with the Comprehensive Consultation

  • Initial assessment to discuss potential goals for your gap year and go over the planning process
  • A retainer for 7 hours of phone conversation or in-person meetings to determine goals, structure plans, and ask questions, plus unlimited emailing
  • A customized portfolio with 10-12 program and activity recommendations based on your specific goals and preferences
  • Advising on College Deferral Request
  • Assistance with program applications
  • Suggestions for budgeting, packing, and other logistical arrangements
  • Pre-departure briefing on safety, security, and cultural cues

Our contracted services terminate once your gap year begins, though we love to keep in touch and hear about your experience!


Independent Gap Year Consultation $4,750 USD

The Independent Gap Year Consultation is ideal for students with significant maturity and travel experience who are motivated to embark on an independent gap experience rather than participate in an organized peer-based travel program or single volunteer placement. The Independent Gap Year Consultation begins with a no-obligation introductory conversation, during which we discuss what you would like to get out of your gap year, budget, preferred destinations, and Free to Roam Adventures' role in facilitating your experience. Once you officially become a client we begin researching opportunities for you. 

Services included with the Independent Gap Year Consultation:

  • Initial assessment to determine goals for gap year, budget, destination(s), and overview of planning process
  • A retainer for 15 hours of phone conversation or in-person meetings for use by students or parents to structure plans and ask questions, plus unlimited emailing
  • Customized Gap Year Plan based on your budget and goals including a travel itinerary with 3-5 recommended activities  for each week of your trip, suggested travel routes, and recommendations for local guides based on personal experience
  • Comprehensive Safety & Security Debrief
  • Recommendations for budgeting, packing, and other pre-departure logistics
  • Advising on College Deferral Request
  • 5 hours of Skype conversation during your gap experience to debrief and offer advice, should you need to alter your plans
  • Follow-up consultation to assist with re-entry and debrief experiences
