Essential Eligibility Criteria

Clients must choose to participate. Mandates by parents, courts, or other entities are not allowed.

Clients should be willing to abide by all rules and expectations set forth by gap year placements.

Clients should be able and willing to effectively communicate ideas, questions and concerns about gap year plans.

Clients should be able and willing to communicate any limitations that may impact their gap experience.

Clients should be able to manage their own self-care during their gap year, and assume responsibility for their own behavior.

Clients should be open and aware of differences and foster a sense of inclusion and appreciation for diversity.

My expertise is not in the therapeutic field, and the gap year opportunities I am most familiar with do not serve students who need more intensive therapeutic support (those with ongoing or untreated substance abuse, ongoing or untreated eating disorders, behavioral problems, or mental health concerns that require ongoing treatment). If you believe that your needs align more closely with a therapeutic program, I can refer you to a counselor who deals specifically with therapeutic experiential education programs.
